Freedom Summer
In 1964, Blacks in America lived without the right to vote. They didn't even have the right to help make decisions in their own
communities. This was happening all around the country, but no African-American had it worse than in Mississippi. The white
citizens of Mississippi were especially strategic in keeping African-Americans from registering to vote. This crisis in Civil
rights brought forth many diverse supporters from around the country. This is how Freedom Summer of 1964 began.

Female Genital Mutilation
In every culture, children are expected to listen and obey to their parents. This is said because according to society; parents know
what’s best for their children. However, what kind of parent forces his/her daughter to a painful process in which her genitals will
be circumcised. Female genital mutilation is the process in which a female’s sexual organs are removed to honor the family name and
earn the respect of others. There are different types of mutilations such as circumcision, excision, and infibulation. The
circumcision operation is thought to be the mildest; the infibulation is the most painful. Regardless
of how mild it may be, it should be stated that all these mutilations are done without anesthesia everywhere around the world,

Styles on the 50
This site was designed to educate and inform all people of the importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) and
Black College Bands. We all know there is nothing like going to a black college football game and viewing a spectacular half-time
show that is being performed by a black college band. Some people only look at the dancing movements, but we want to let everyone
know that dancing is not what black college bands are all about. It is not easy to march with a black college band; therefore,
individuals within these black college bands work very hard. It takes time, hard work, and a lot of dedication. Everyone needs to know
that these black college bands can not only "get down", but they can also play. So, as you explore "Styles on the 50", try not to get
too excited by what you see, but try to inform and educate yourself with the information we have provided for you.
