A War with AIDS: Africa's Crisis
Africa has been haunted by the AIDS epidemic. It has taken countless lives and the death toll is continuously growing. Twenty-eight
million people live with AIDS in Sub Sahara Africa. AIDS claimed 900,000 lives in South Africa during 2001. Three million children
today are left with one parent or none. Six hundred thousand people die of AIDS related illnesses everyday in Sub-Saharan Africa.
These are just a few of the facts of the AIDS crisis. However, people in Africa are still living with a positive spirit, and have
hopes and courage even though death is just around the corner. The industries, economy, and education are being affected as the
result of AIDS. Africa is in need of attention and awareness.

Teens and Alcoholism
The future of our lives depend solely on the actions of young teens today. We will be the teachers, administrators, and the leaders
of tomorrow. The purpose of this site is to enlighten teens on a serious problem which adversely affects our potential of becoming
great leaders and productive, healthy adults. Our site will provide information about alcoholism and its effects on teenagers'
lives in our society today.

The Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge, a communist regime, led by Pol Pot, was the cause of nearly two million deaths in Cambodia between 1975 and 1979.
On April 17, 1975 the Khmer Rouge soldiers marched into Phnom Penh (the capital of Cambodia) and proudly established their new form
of government. In the four years they were in control, they managed to convince all urban residents to trek the long and
excruciating journey to the countryside where most met their deaths, including children. The Cambodian people were forced to leave
the city in false pretense that they were leaving for something better. They couldn’t be farther form the truth. If you didn’t starve
to death in these camps then you were personally killed by one of the Khmer soldiers. Most educational curriculums these days
require students to learn about the Holocaust or the mass killings in Rwanda, but they don’t touch on the subject of the mass
genocide that occurred in Cambodia nearly thirty years ago.

Powwows
A Powwow is an event beyond simple definition. It is an event where people come to celebrate life, love, death, friends, family, and
more. This website is dedicated to inform you and the general public more about Powwows.
We decided to do powwows because Powwows are not seen in mainstream society and are not normally taught in Public schools around the
country. We plan to show you how culturally powerful it is to attend one of these cultural events. We also would like to increase the
number of people who know about and understand the concepts and ideas about Powwows.

System Dynamics
Here you will learn about System Dynamics and how it impacts the world around us. This field is becoming increasingly important and can
have vast influences on how our society works. By knowing and understanding systems, we will be able to make predictions using models
of the systems. These models can be an accurate way to predict how the system will act over a long period of time.

Minority Health Issues
Over the years, minorities have been diagnosed with more serious health issues during their middle age than the general population.
Their life expectancy is seven years less than the average white male’s because minorities lack health insurance, disregard health
care, and/or lack awareness. The cause of this begins in the early years of a minority male’s life. This site hopes to educate
students about diseases and lifestyles contributing to a high and early mortality rate among African American and Hispanic males.

The Fallen Stars
Picture the night sky, with Orion, the Big Dipper, Leo, and Capricorn all shimmering in brightness. Now imagine the stars of Orion
dimming until you can no longer make out the constellation. Each one of the stars that make up the hunter likely has their own
planets, produce their own light, and has their own distinct color. Imagine the stars are people with their own personalities,
families, friends, histories, and lives. During the Holocaust, many stars were dimmed, each one unique, and each one illuminating
its own portion of the heavens. Just as the dimming of Orion would affect the brightness of the entire night sky, the loss of these
individuals affected the brightness of the whole world.
