Team Collaboration

As soon as we selected our topic six months ago, we divided the work amongst us according to our different capabilities. Some of us who are talented in programming focused mainly on creating the site and the rest of us focused on gathering data and writing the information displayed. We had made several drafts of our articles and website layout designs, constantly improving them with time before we uploaded them on the Oracle Thinkquest website. As four of the five of us lived in the same hostel and the fifth one lived close, it was quite convenient for meetings to be held after school hours. We also made visits to the local university library to research on the various topics concerning oil.

The researchers also took photos of related objects to complement our research materials and the programmers utilized other forms of visual media like animation to make it easier for young viewers to grasp the gist of the content.

We also gave feedback to each other based on each one’s recent assignment draft presented before the group during weekly meetings. By doing so, we learned new techniques and ideas from each other.

Team Diversity

Our group comprised members from Brunei, Singapore and India.

The three locations – Brunei, Singapore and India --played a key role in our knowledge about oil extraction as it is Brunei’s main industry, refining being a key component of Singapore’s economy and India with her rapidly multiplying number of refineries and power plants shows the importance of oil in developing economies. Their own different views about oil production and consumption were shared with the group so that everyone got a bigger picture of oil and its importance in our lives.
