2001
Our project, “Human Rights: The Pursuit of an Ideal” is here to present an objective view of the topic of human rights. Human rights originated in ancient Babylon, and since the inception of the concept, they have been shaped, debated and fought for throughout the millennia. Topics that have been researched include, but are not limited to: 7 The evolution of human rights, and their pioneers 7 The history of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other human rights covenants 7 Issues pertaining to the debate on human rights 7 The enforcement of human rights standards Our site has been designed to provide relevant and useful information for all users. However, one should keep in mind that the material has been written with high school students in mind. Teachers are encouraged to use our site as an introduction to educating their classes on the topic of human rights. One can find fun and educational activities in the “Your Turn” section. Naturally, everyone is more than welcome to try out the activities too.
