Team Collaboration

I am Bella. I am 10. This was my first ThinkQuest and I loved the experience. It helped me learn to work together and rely on other people. While I was researching my topic I shed a few tears. Being able to say that I am proud of my team is amazing because I am used to working on my own. The biggest lesson I learned is that you can achieve anything if you try. Working together is what really matters. I am Saeeda and I am 10. On this project I helped with stories and research. I enjoyed learning new things as my team researched about the lives of elderly. My favorite part was the research on the lives of elderly in Pakistan because I was born there and moved to America when I was 3. Other things I liked were interviews, building the site, and helping with the stories. I'm Jessica and I am 11. In this project I helped with the research on elderly issues, made flash animations and helped draw the pictures. I enjoyed this project because it got my mind thinking more about others. I've learned more about elderly people and what they go through every day. I've also learned a lot about how elderly people are treated in other countries. ThinkQuest was a great experience. It was fun to work with my team. They were easy to cooperate with; we all got along. This was my first ThinkQuest and I would like to thank my team and my coaches for making it a great experience. My name is Jalaycia. Being in ThinkQuest has shown me many new things. Working on this site has taught me that I should care more for others. This topic has inspired me to make a difference in the world. Our team has worked together, and has faced obstacles when one of our team members quit. We also did have some trouble finishing the project during the last few weeks but we pulled together. I am Kendal and I am 10. This is the first time I have been in ThinkQuest. I think the topic I was researching is really important because the elderly are treated both poorly and well. It is really interesting to see how different countries treat elderly. I wrote and edited stories and I did research on different countries, poverty, and abuse. I liked working with my teammates. My name is Kaitlyn and I am 9 and I started working on Think.com in 2nd grade. As a third grader, this is my first year as a member of a ThinkQuest team. Being a member of this team has helped me accomplish some personal goals, such as positive communication with team members. Working on the elderly site has motivated me to pay attention on elderly members of my community. I learned many new ideas. I think ThinkQuest is a great way to learn

Team Diversity

Although we go to the same school, we come from very different backgrounds. We think we really represent our country America, because it is a melting pot of cultures. Bella’s family comes from Italy. Saaeda was born in Pakistan. Jessica’s family is from India. Jalaycia is African- American. Kendal’s family is from England. Kaitlyn's grandparents are all from the USA. Our backgrounds were important in studying our subjects because we all have family traditions and experiences with elderly that were different. We were able to share and learn from each other. We found out that there are differences in how elderly are treated around the world and in each of our cultures. But we also learned that elderly in all of the culture face some of the same issues. Another thing that most of us shared is that we live far away from our grandparents and elderly members of our families. This project really made us think about loneliness and how we could better help. We realized that in the world of today we will have to work as a community. That’s why we participated in our project to help elderly. We felt that maybe if we are helping someone’s grandparent, someone will help our elderly far away. As we were sharing our experiences we started to appreciate our cultures. We went to school together for years and never learned about each other’s cultures. We also realized how many different cultures are around us - we found people from all over the world, right next to us. This project made us see all the wonderful differences that we have. Our diversity became our strength.
