Team Collaboration

Collaboration was done mostly through various online platforms including Google Sites, MSN Messenger and Google Docs. Although members were from the same school, all of them are rather busy with their school work so these online collaboration platforms proved to be key in the collaboration in true Thinkquest spirit

Shen Hao has been an ardent supporter of environmental issues and is in the school's Dunman High Water Education Programme so he has a good knowledge of water related issues both at the local and global level. The team really benefited from his inclusion as he had his personal experience to share with the team. Over time, everyone was soon educated in global issues affecting water and they soon realised that there were many interlinked issues of global significance. It is not just a simple matter of "to supply more water, just ramp up production" - the issue of safety and the other intertwined issues surrounding water had to be taken into account

As everyone became familiar with water issues, everyone was involved in all the contents. However, Shen Hao, being ane xcellent leader and organsier co-ordinated the entire planning, brainstorming and sticking to schedules.

Kai Yuan and Ryan did most of the contents relating to local water issues while Shen Hao, Chun Lin focused more on the global issues. Eric was a Jack of all trades - from contents on local, global issues to photography, and image editing. However, Shen Hao and Kai Yuan also contributed to some nice image editing. Ryan did some GIF animations for the Reverse Osmosis

Collaboration was not entirely smooth either as all members except Shen Hao did this only as an after-school activity. Moreover there were some periods when some members procrastinated and caused some of Shen Hao's planning to go awry

Everyone contributed

Team Diversity

Although members were from the same school there was quite a diversity in age from the youngest in Sec 1 to the oldest in Sec 4 - so there was a great diversity in opinions and perhaps "maturity"

Chun Lin also hails from Taiwan and he presented some interesting perspectives and being the youngest member he displayed exceptional maturity

Ryan and Chun Lin started learning Geography only last year and this year respectively so they had some initial problems understanding what some of the more experienced members such as Kai Yuan and Shen Hao proposed during the brainstorming sessions.

Shen Hao and Kai Yuan as the more experienced members were kind enough to explain many of the ideas proposed to the younger members to bring them up to a level of meaningful discussion. For example, when the issue of Millennium Development Goals was discussed, the younger ones were briefed on the purpose of these goals so that they could understand the issue better and discuss if these goals in relation to bringing access to safe drinking water to everyone in this world
