The Physics of Toys

1998
Elementary students are the least likely to have a teacher trained to teach science, with labs and with open ended exploration. When students can initiate their own learning about science while dabbling with something they love - TOYS! - then real science and mathematics learning can take place. The skills of observation, critical thinking, measurement, analysis, conclusions and setting up an experiment are all parts of this site. The students did experiments they wondered about and made a way to present the data. They suggested ways that teachers could use the site, ways that included play and fun, like the HUGE Bubble Contest.
