Cool Composers is a website designed for students to learn about the great composers who have enriched our lives with their music. The activities in this site are designed to encourage students to appreciate the great contribution that these composers have made while participating in the "Internet style" of learning. There are 6 composers on this site. These composers span the time from the Baroque to the Romantic Periods. A picture of the composer, a quick facts page and a research paper are included. Activities are designed to enhance ones knowledge of these 6 composers. In addition. these games and activities integrate technology into language arts, math, social studies, art, and music. The objectives of this site are: -applying a knowledge of basic math facts and arithmetic operations to real life situations -students write competently for a variety of purposes and audiences. -identifying and responding to elements of music through listening activities -recognizing musical elements in compositions -understanding the role of musicians in various cultures -participating in musical experience with an awareness of simple musical elements, form, and styles. -recognizing instruments used by musicians
