Rush For Riches: a Portrait of Mining in America
2000
Rush For Riches - A Portrait of Mining in America is an interactive cyber-journey into American mining and its effects on the American individual, society, culture and history.
Demonstrating that America's existence has relied upon the foundation of mining, Rush For Riches provokes thought and discussion, and provides many activities, both on and off the site. Using interactive presentations, descriptive text, and photos, users may choose to tour the inside of 19th century lead and zinc mine, journey through the interactive timeline, check out the hope diamond, print out one of the puzzles for later, or even grow a crystal garden.
Students will find this site an excellent reference tool, as well as an interesting place to come back to, again, and again. Lesson plans are also available.
