Team Collaboration

The reason behind our team choosing Hip-hop was our involvement, as individuals, in this cultural movement.

Ciprian, one of the two designers behind our website concept, has been DeeJaying since 2008. His passion for the rich sound and unique feel of vinyl, and his knowledge of music from the oldschool and golden ages of Hip-hop, from late seventies to mid-eighties made us realise the social and cultural importance of DeeJaying in the early days of Hip-hop, when people would gather from all around to listen to the Djs looping breakbeats that would hype you up.

Vince (Vicentiu), our second designer, has been breakdancing for more than a year - the experience gained in the Bboy cyphers changed the way he sees the dance we all know as Breaking. Commonly thought of as deeply tied with street crime and mischief, we've tried, together, to shine light on a deeper meaning of BBoying, both culturally and traditionally. Silviu, our main article writer, is both involved in the world of graffiti and rapping. In his free time, Silviu battles other MC's, displaying lyricism in his well-chosen rhymes. He also enjoys doing graffiti art with his friends.

Andrei, our friendly artist, helped us sketch parts of the website. He shows great interest in the hip-hop culture through his attitude. He aspires to take his art not only to the walls (in the form of graffiti) but also to the buildings themselves. He wishes to study architecture and design buildings featuring hip-hop.

Anca, our project overseer, supports hip-hop culture and enjoys listening to the original hip hop music from the 1980's as well as what we have today, although she can see a big gap in music quality from what used to be and what is now called Hip-Hop.

Our website is the result of our views on hip-hop being brought together and recorded in an electronic format to be showed to the public, in hopes of educating them in what hip-hop actually represents.

Our project has taken shape in stages. At first it was the job our our main article writer and team leader to find as much accurate information as possible, so we can make sure what we offer to the public is correct. Their time management skills proved useful over the course of the whole project.

Once our information was secure and our articles began to take shape, our web designers were faced with a challenge to create an easy to use yet attractive and original interface. Flash was our technology of choice. Our artist Andrei provided all the necessary drawings to create an impressive looking website.

Team Diversity

What do 5 people, who have only just met two years ago, all coming from different environments have in common? Although their passions are different, BBoying, DJing, MCing and Graffiti, every team member seeks to prove on thing: what Hip-Hop represents. It is Hip-Hop that brings them together. They may not think the same and have different views on what life is about, all of them know one thing: Hip-Hop is not just what we see today on TV, Hip-Hop stands for freedom, respect, happiness.

Our first designer, Ciprian is a fan of DJing, believing strongly in what Hip-Hop used to represent: peace. For a long time, he used to promote the hippie style, his long hair and BMW toy wagon which he wishes to buy for real one day being trademarks of the hippie culture. Now he has chosen to oblige to society's standards and trimmed his look, however he still believes in the same values and seeks to prove this through DJing.

Vicentiu, our second designer is a fan of competition and believes that it's not money who should be the deciding factor in a battle, but the skill of each contestant. With this said, he continuously tries to improve in what he does so that when the time comes he can prove his worth. He has also just recently moved to the big city and has been placed in a very competitive environment. He rose to the challenge and is now aiming to be the first in what he does: dancing and a very contrasting choice: programming.

Anca, our leader is a fan of Hip-Hop music in general and the message it tries to send, quickly rejecting artists who's rimes are only there for the sound and not the meaning. Her passions besides Hip-Hop are economy and management, which made her an excellent choice as a team leader.

Our main article writer, Silviu is an avid fan of graffiti, having actually been involved in a "graffiti crew". Apart from Hip-Hop, his other interest are theater and writing. His abilities were the perfect match for a main article writer.

Our artist Andrei is a student who comes from a completely different way of life. He has spent most of his time in a rural environment observing the beauty that nature offers. This, combined with his passion for Hip-Hop and talent in sketching made him a perfect match for our team's artist spot.
