date palms: Food is the most important essential for the humans and the living organisms, without it the humans are exposed to hungriness and their life becomes endangered, they die because of it in many cases, the U.N’s reports and the humanity organizations warn from the dangers of hungriness and bad feeding behavior as hungriness kills millions and millions of humans every year (including 5million children), the reports made up a list of the issues which makes many people suffer from hungriness, they are: 1- Using large amounts of seeds (like wheat and corn) in producing organic fuel. 2- The exposure of many places in the world for dryness. 3- Decreasing of fertilizers and increasing its price worldwide shared in increasing of the food’s price. 4- Using seed as food for animals because of increasing the life level and the demand of humans of meat. The countries and the different organizations do their best efforts to decrease the ratio of hungry people in the world as it represents great hope for the hungry people, more than 30 countries represent half the citizens of developer countries could decrease the ratio of the hungry people to 25%. From this project we make spotlight on one source of food and the production in the world for what it has from many benefits, it is date palm. The palm is a kind of trees mentioned in all religions like: Islam, Christianity. Palm is distinguished from any other type of tress which has many benefits as all parts of it HAS benefits, as it has man advantages that can’t be counted. Our project will spotlight on palms and dates, (may this project share in solving the food problem and shares in destroying the hungriness in all world), I’m full of hope that this project covers all fields (sides) that we want to publish and benefit from it to solve a major problem may civilians suffer from it, and helps to draw a smile on the faces of children and hungry people all over the world. In the palm’s project we see the experts’ and specialists in feeding, agriculture, etc… We will document this project with images, videos and information which insures that our project is serious and that it participates in solving one of the most dangerous problems that the humanity are exposed to. In the end of our project, we would have known: 1- The original home of palm. 2- how does palm breed. 3- the diseases which attack palm and how to prevent it. 4- types of Palm. 5- the most famous types of it. 6- how to preserve (save) dates. 7- dates and common health. 8- Palm and the number (7). 9- the warnings about hunger. 10- the nutrition value.

Team Collaboration

The team members worked together to acheive this project as:

Our team worked very well together from the very beginning to the end of the project. Although, we had some troubles and we ran into some things that we disagreed on, we worked through them in rational ways. One method we used was voting on things. Overall, we all seem glad about the choices we made as far as our teammates go. It was great to work together collecting data, taking pictures, making interviews with some specialists to ask them some important questions, we can not got all these information with out meeting those specialists. Also translation from our mother tongue Arabic into English to have a global project and to spread the result of our researches to all people all over the world. We used a lot of dictionaries and asked about the meaning of some idiom in Arabic to translate it into English, also some English teachers in our school helped us to pass the bridge of translation, we did our best to use correct English in our project.

One of the most important thing in this project that we really learned how to integrate an education project with our team coach Mr Abdelmoneam, he was really great and he helped us to create a wonderful team, he also helped us to think in a very create way to solve problems and to put solutions for every problem we can face, he tried all the time to tie our project with our daily life and he asked all of us to face the fact and to try to solve the problem of hunger in our world, we learned also how to communicate with each other and to collect information through talking with other people different in culture, religion, society, backgrounds, and economic. We used think quest medium (pages) to communicate and to exchange ideas and experiences. We used all kind of communication such as; telephone, fax, think quest pages and messages board.

We met and decided to integrate project about hunger in world, as we all live in Africa and it’s the famous place in world for hunger. We asked our selves can us as a youth end hunger in world, or at least participate to end it in world? How? Do we have creative ideas? Can we use nature to end these phenomena?

We decide to begun our research and to collect information to know which kind of food can provide our body with it’s needs and can support the human body to survival? The answer after long research was (Date) so we begun to integrate our project about date and how we can use it as main food, plant it, use it in industry and also the medical uses of date.

Team Diversity

At the beginning we started to met for grouping our roles and to know the role of every one of us, our teacher asked us to do it by our selves, he said that “ you have to decide , you know your ability and to choose your role, to love what you do.”

We planed our project with our coach; we suggested the time line and the learning recourses with him, we also chosen our meeting schedule.

Our coach also encourages us to write a survey question every week, and to collect the result of survey to use it in our researches.

We also planed for some special activities such as field trips to some farms, interviews and taking video shoots to some industries based on palm trees.

After every week we had a group discussion to assess progress towards achieving the goals of the project, from these meetings we known do we have any problems preventing us from moving forward, if yes, how to solve it? Also we known do we on the track or not? Do we use our project plan or not? We really were great in working together we helped each other all the time and tried to introduce something good and benefit at the same time.

It was our first time to integrate an education project, but it won’t be the last, we really interested with the experience of projects and learning through this way, we learned how to be a leader for a group, how to learn all the time and to direct our selves with out asking any other one, how to communicate and to think in a different way “ a creative thinking”, how to be responsible towards our society or towards our great home” the world” and how to be professional in our project and to reach as we are a specialists in this field

We just need our project to be the best and to get the great benefit from our search results, that we were amazed from it, to be one of possible solutions for hunger in world. We really did our best and hope to read it carefully and to get us your honor feed back that’s what we are after. Thanks for all think quest team all over the world and for all judges in narrative competition.

Our roles in the team werr as the following, we really did our best to have a different roles according to our intersted with photography, reading, communicated and so on;

1 - photgraphing from palm farms.

2 - taking videos for some industries related to palm.

3 - Design a wall charts.

4 - Search on internet different web sites.

5 - Hold an interviews with some specialists , feeding experments , palm planting experments ,also industries conected to palm.

6 - Borrow some pictures from some websites.
