Being different; Living with autism

2001
There are some unique individuals among us who live with a developmental disorder known as Autism or Asperger Syndrome. Yet misinformation and late diagnosis often causes much emotional pain and difficulty to these individuals and their families. With this in mind, "Being different; Living with autism" aims to empower, educate and inspire our peers and our community. The website introduces the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and features numerous articles and advice on autistic behaviour, diagnosis, care management, educational concerns, etc. "Being different; Living with autism" is also a highly interactive portal, where users can play, discover and make responses throughout the site. Through stories, poems, art and real-life accounts, we hope to make the world of the mentally challenged come alive, banishing the stigma associated with 'disability' and 'handicaps'. We also hope that discussion boards and user-submitted information on our site will be a valuable source of support for families and friends of challenged individuals. Welcome in!
