Dog Rescues and Puppy Mills

2009
The theme that we are working on for this website is Dog Rescues and Puppy Mills. We are trying to get people to see what puppy mills are doing to dogs and how they can help. We want people to realize that adopting a dog at a local dog rescue is the right way to go.

Team Collaboration

Our team worked very well together. We each worked on separate things but when one of us needed help we would help them with whatever they needed. Anna did most of the writing, Jen put together the website with help from all of us, and Erin looked for all the pictures on this website. Anna types really fast so that’s why she was put in charge in that area. Jen is really good at putting together websites and has had experience with a website before, and Erin really loves dogs so when she sees a good picture…she knows. One problem we had was the lack of pictures that we were able to use. Another was Erin had pneumonia right in the middle of the project so it was just Anna and Jen for a while. The picture problem was easy to get over. We went to the team’s Flickr account and got some really good pictures. When Erin went out sick that was a bigger problem, but Anna and Jenny took the work home and it was just like Erin was there. When Erin got back she jumped right back into working and that problem was over. We had a few other problems too. The first problem was the laptops we used didn’t charge very well so we would be in the middle of typing up research and it would shut down. We told our teachers about this problem and they gave us a laptop charger and gave us a seat next to a plug. Another one was New Hampshire got hit hard by an ice storm. Thousands of people were out of power. We didn’t have power for around 3 weeks. As soon as we got back to school though, we all started doing what we did when Erin was gone. We also didn’t have enough computers for everyone so someone would always have to sit out and take notes. The way Anna and Jenny took Web Design classes helped because they knew how to make the graphics and they started the website before everyone else. Although we worked very well together we also had our arguments for example we only had two computers to work on and we had three team members. We would get in arguments on who would use a computer and who would write notes.

Team Diversity

The diversity of the team was that we all worked in different ways for example one of us liked working very fast and one of us liked working slowly and one of liked working slow but fast at the same time. We all understood that we needed to work together and put our differences behind us we found that if we all work on different things then added it together we found that, that way we got more done. Getting our weaknesses behind us, we put together our advantages and we got a lot done. We had an advantages over other teams because one of the people in our group knew how to make a website and another person in our group knew how to do animation. One person in our group had a background with puppy mills because she volunteers at a dog rescue, The Winn Dog Rescue.

Our sources were different because each website had a different way of displaying their information so we had to search for information on puppy mills and dog rescues. When we were searching for pictures we had trouble at first because we could not find any pictures that we could use. We finally figured out that we could use Flickr and NetTrekker we found some really sad and some really cute pictures of dogs and puppy mills. We did work at school and at home. We found a lot of information at home and at school what I am trying to say is that we did not only work at school. We worked vary hard and very good together. If we could do this all over we think we would do it the same way. We used a lot of websites and they were all very helpful.
