Finned Footed Friends

1999
"Finned Footed Friends" is an entry about pinnipeds found in the waters around the Kenai Peninsula and Aleutian Island chain region of Alaska. A pinniped is a finned-footed marine mammal carnivore. This web entry will help students across the world learn about the 5 main pinnipeds found around the Kenai Peninsula (southcentral Alaska) and Aleutian Island waters. The 5 main species, covered on separate web pages, are the Steller Sea Lion, Harbor Seal, Northern Fur Seal, Elephant Seal, and Pacific Walrus. Each web page presents useful information on each species in easy to read categories (such as description, diet, population, habitat, breeding, and life history). Most of the specific web pages also have at least one image of the pinniped for visitors to enjoy. Our web entry's objectives are to help people, both in Alaska and around the world, learn more about the characteristics and importance of our "finned footed friends" of the seas!
