All Aboard the Musical Train

"All Aboard the Musical Train" is a journey through the music of 6 decades, the 1920's to the 1970's. Several artists from each decade are highlighted, as well as an introduction to the current events of that time period and the influence these events had on the music. The students on our team were interested in how music has changed through time and also in learning about the different styles of music. It was important to them to find a meaningful way to share this information with others, thus the development of our website. Music is basic to the quality of human existence. As a common element of all cultures, music is a universal system of communication. Our objectives are: 1. To provide students with opportunities to appreciate and become knowledgeable receivers of music from different periods and styles. 2. Develop an awareness of the value of music as it is related to other disciplines and to the quality of life experiences. 3. Students will be sensitive to the place of music in society and the need of all individuals for aesthetic reaction and expression. In a world endlessly shaped and reshaped by the evolution and revolution of peoples and ideologies, the one goal which remains internally steadfast is the acquisition and application of knowledge. We affirm our responsibility to do everything in our power to enable each student to reach their goal.
