Threatening Clouds: Air Pollution on the Eve of the New Millenium

1999
While the Industrial Revolution transformed America into an economic powerhouse, it also marked the beginning of what would become the biggest contributor to air pollution and, consequently, the destruction of thousands of lakes and other natural habitats. On the eve of the new millennium, the importance of restoring our environment and fixing, or at least, lessening, these problems has become a national and international priority. Recently, such a priority has propelled environmental restoration and protection to the forefront of congressional agendas. Our comprehensive web site entitled, "Threatening Clouds: Air Pollution on the Eve of the New Millenium," attempts to address such pressing environmental issues, specifically CFCs, smog, acid rain, ozone depletion, and global warming, as well as the legislative action that has been enacted to help stop them. Furthermore, the site hopes to arm viewers with a basic understanding of these problems that will allow them to take preventative and remedial measures in their own communities. A text version, HTML version, and Flash version are available to accomodate all visitors, with special animations that further illustrate the topics featured in the Flash version.
