Team Collaboration
How to make this project a successful one? The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team. Our team started by developing a common goal – “Save Our World”. We shared the same belief that we together have the power to make the world a better place. Through open discussions, everyone contributed ideas and understanding on the topic. We listened actively, empowered every member to express her points of view and gave positive feedbacks. Surely there were times our opinions disagree. In that case, we usually can reach the consensus by raising our concerns frankly and evaluating the pros and cons of the issue.
Throughout the process, we support and rely on each other. With the creativity artwork by Lorraine, in-depth research findings by Jacqueline, great analysis and organization by Gigi and Peony, strengths were brought to the team. By taking up responsibilities for a share of the tasks, carrying them out on time and sacrificing personal interest for the good of the team, our website was finally brought to life. It is a fruitful result of the devotion by every member and continuous guidance and support by our coaches.
From this project, our collaborating skills were enhanced and we also learnt a lot concerning the resources around us. Nevertheless, we had really started to SOW seeds - arouse peoples’ attention on the problem of limited resources. “All is well when it ends well”. We hope that every visitor to our website would join force to Save Our World.
Team Diversity
SOW is a team of enthusiastic members who love the world. Apart from willingness and passion, we also consider intelligence, working style, creativity and diversity when forming our team. The diversity of our team mainly based on the unique talents, characteristics, experience and abilities of each member. It consists of students from both senior forms and junior forms. To solve the problem of having only female members (as we are a convent school), we invited a male teacher to be our coach. Moreover, our team consists of members who are good at art and graphics design, ICT skills, project management and web implementation. Nevertheless, there are members who had the real experience of participating in environmental and science projects. These characteristics react together to produce a unique perspective in our team members who are all precious resources to our team. By making good use of diversity, we can make the team working more efficiently.
