Team Collaboration
Describe how your team worked together to complete the project include examples and team member using individual strengths to help the team.
My team consists of three girls: Estrella, Nicole, and Angelica. We all worked together well as much as we possibly could. We never wasted any of our class time given to us. We made a yahoo email address specifically for this project, in order to contact one another and receive or send any permission requests. As a group we helped one another with our weaknesses. As the team leader I, Angelica, made the group as equal as possible. We planned the timeline and made it so every page due was at the convenience of the other group members. Each team member gave ideas for our website and together we created the design and style of each page. Estrella’s individual strength was being able to come up with unique and eye catching designs for our web pages. Another one of Estella’s strength was being able to find reliable sources that provided the group the information we needed. Nicole’s strength was being able to do research and find excellent references. Another one of her strengths was being able to make replica pictures using freehand. My strength was being able to help my group members with everything they needed and being a good team leader. Another of my strengths is being able to make creative and excellent animations, as well as buttons.
One specific time where our group went through a crisis, is when all of our links, pictures, and backgrounds broke. We had to re-link everything and re-import all the images. We worked together by helping one another organizing what is placed on the website. We all came to the conclusion that the group leader, which is me, should hold all the pages, images, etc. so that this problem would not occur again.
We all worked together greatly and rarely had any problems or disagreements. If any problems would occur, we would talk about a solution and come to an agreement. Over all I think this is a wonderful group with good communication and creative skills.
Team Diversity
Our team consists of three girls, Angelica, Estrella, and Nicole. Two of us are Puerto Rican and the other one is Mexican. We all grew up in Chicago, Illinois and we still have the same Hispanic backgrounds. Each one of us grew up with salsa being a big part of our lives. From listening to it at every family party, to getting pulled by the hand and being dragged by our grandparents to go dance with them, and friends who we spent majority of our time with to create our own dance moves for different salsa songs when we were bored. Even though we didn’t grow up together salsa played an important part in our culture from our grandparents to our parents then to us and our friends. Our salsa development was the same but we are not the same. We were each raised in a different environment so we see life at a different view from each other. We chose a topic that is from our Hispanic background so it was easy for all of us to relate to and do a good job completing this project. We found that there is no specific fact on where salsa came from. So we picked Puerto Rico and Cuba as a start since those are the two places that it was most popular. We found that salsas dancing as well as other things are different in different cultures. Since we all came from very similar backgrounds we use salsa the same, so we found doing this project interesting to see how salsa affects people’s lives just like it did to us.
