Teacher Resources (Lesson Plans, Worksheets)
Cheng Hon is the best at flash in our group, so he taught the rest of us how to do the various things for example linking, making buttons and the transitions in flash while doing the website. Lyanne also did lots of features using flash for the website. Maxene and Deborah are our researchers who spent their time doing their research for content and images and some flash. Maxene and Rachel designed the site as they are good in photoshop.
We had lots of difficulty as we progressed the project because most of us in the group are very inexperienced in flash, so we had to do lots of trial and error before achieving success. When we had difficulties in doing something, someone else in the group will help out, and both will get the job done. When we were not able to solve the problem with trial and error, we consulted our seniors and others with some experience to help us with the development of our project.
Besides thi we also had to find time to meet each other as we had two seniors in the team, who are preparing for a major exam this year. When we could not find time to meet physically we `met' online - chatting, phone and through blogs to communicate with one another.
The difference in our age is one of the key diversity of our group. Three of us from the lower secondary, while two of them come from upper secondary level. The age difference brought along the kinds of experience we have, to help us complete this project.
The seniors helped us by passing on their knowledge of using FLASH to create the website. I do not think it would have been posssible to develop this site with the little knowledge we have currently. But of course, we have honed our skills in flash and learned how to work together with the seniors - be it understanding their thinking or working along with them. Likewise the seniors also took our perspectives into consideration when we were brainstorming for ideas for the web-site, information selection and work delegation.
The differences in age helped us to understand how people from each age group will think and act and in the process be more flexible and accommodating. This is a very good people skill which all of us picked up because of our involvement in this project/competition.
