911 Safety Rage!

2000
How terrible! This year, two students from our school have been seriously hurt because they didn't practice good safety. One of our classmates had multiple burns on his legs and arm from not playing with fireworks responsibly, and even worse, another classmate was recently hit by a car and dragged on the street. She is still in the hospital recovering from her many injuries. Another student from a nearby school also was injured by a moving vehicle and he died. The reason why we chose to do our project for ThinkQuest Junior on safety is because we've noticed that children are not practicing good safety strategies. Many children, our peers, get hurt because they don't know or forget safety practices when they come across potentially dangerous situations because they may not realize how important it is. To help young children begin to realize this we feel it has to be brought to their attention, but within a "fun" learning environment and in a way that will encourage adults to share more with them so that they will be able to remember what they've learned better. Resources we spoke with shared how within the past ten years, the number of safety education programs have gone done because of dwindling funds from states and counties and coincidentally, more injuries which have been safety related have been reported. Our contribution to the effort of educating about safety is our website, 911-Safety Rage!
