E.A. Endangered Animals, Kids' View

The team was concerned about endangered animals around the world. They decided to create a web site about these animals in the hope that sharing information about endangered animals would encourage the web page viewers to care for and to care about these animals at risk. The students were asked to select a topic which was related to the NC Standard Course of Study at their fifth grade level. They brainstormed to select the topic and the goals for their site. The educational objectives for the project included the following: 1. that the learners would demonstrate higher level thinking skills 2. that the learners would explore a wide range of resources and interact in an information intense environment 3. that the learners would identify and apply strategies to access, evaluate, use, and communicate information 4. that the learners would develop an understanding of and appreciation for the nature of science.
