Team Collaboration

The team "Think in sounds!" started building the project in February. The entire narrative is inspired from the members' experience. They devided the topics as it followes:Ioana, Andy ,Andreea writing the essays, taking and editing photos and Bogdan the technical field - taking and editing videos and Leandro wrote about music in Brazil. Each member was an important pillar of the team. One took over the other, suplementing the other when some member went down. Each member had diffrent abilities:taking photos, editing them, translating, searching for information. The team utilized everyone's talent to its full. The result can be seen in this beautiful narrative project. The team was busy for months collecting data, opinions and information.Everyone had some individual qualities that helped the narrative grow.

Firstly, we should to mention that Andreea took part in a national contest, consequently she couldn't post so much as the others. The difficulties they encountered consist of breaking up the team, Andreea did not have the neccesary time to give attention to the project. That's why she wanted to give up.However, we found a way to continue together by helping her to create essays and sharing with her things from our visits.

At the begginig of March, Leandro joined our team.Having technical problemes with his internet, we couldn't keep in touch. He only managed to send as a few information on mail.

Our action steps:

We created the plan of our project, with the main topics we wanted to reffer to.

We divided them among us:Ioana-Classical music, taking photos

Andy-Our soul bands,taking photos

Andreea-Music therapy,editing photos

Bogdan-Making videos, the tehnical field of music

All the rest was made as a team work.

To achieve the best results, we went to "Philarmonic State of Transylvania", taking part to their concerts and also talking with the members of the orchestra. We took an interview to Mr.Manciu Gabi, who became 'our personal music teacher'.

At school, we took an interview to our music teacher Ms.Angela David, recorded ourselves singing some famous songs, and taking part in concerts during the celebration of our High School fundation. We made surveys among our schoolmates, trying to find out what the tendecy of nowadays music is.

Taking to consideration our music teacher advices, we joined a 'Music camp' and learned how to play a musical instrument.

To find out how music is made, we made a visit to a studio where a man explained to us all about technical field of music.

Team Diversity

Building and writing this project was a completly adventure. It was as if we had started a long journey in which everyone got hard luggage in their backs. The target is hold in ThinkQuest's hand, and we approach with small but confident steps to the final. The travellers are from Romania and Brazil and the distance between the two countries influenced their journey. They couldn't communicate so well because of the internet problems. However, when there is no communication, music comes to help you. They manage to exchange songs and realized the beauty of the other country and its musical culture.A few information from Brazil music and dances helped Romania form an image of the traditional music there and create a short narrative.

The team had three girls and two boys, along with the lead coach, Ms. Dana Vaida and Assistant Coach Prof.Luciana.The team was diverse in the following aspects:

1. Geographical Diversity- The members were from two different countries- Romania and Brazil. This diversity helped us study teenagers preferences in music in different geographical areas.

2.Technological Knowledge: The team members were from different educational background. Their knowledge of technology was different.Leandro was a beginner in using ThinkQuest so we posted the information he gave us.

3.Cultural Diversity: Two countries are sufficient to prove the cultural diversity of the team. Some cultures are sensitive towards music and some suppress it. Some understand music as an individual; some do not identify it at all.

4. Time Zones: Two time zones taught the team to adapt. The members adapted themselves to others’ needs. This difference in time zones helped the students understand better some geographical factors.

5. Diversity of Sources: The team used many different sources and resources to make this NarrativeProject. Books, Internet, magazines, talks with people in different spheres of life, real life situations and experiences, personal experience, surveys, interviews helped the team to build this narrative.

6. Gender Diversity: The team had both- boys and girls. This helped to understand the emotional needs and points of view of both and enriched the project.

7. Language Diversity: The members had different mother language. Nobody had English as his/her maternal language so this barrier was overcome by cross-cultural understanding.

Being a team formed of two countries, the diversity existed.Despite poor comunication, this helped us work and collaborate, making us walk more easily the long distance.
