Team Collaboration
Working on this project seemed to be difficult at first because of the differences in each group member’s thinking.. We first started out with some problems dealing with coming up with an idea of a background for our website that we all liked. That problem was solved very quickly because I began working together as a team. Our team has many strengths but also some individual weaknesses. However, each member’s strength helped out the other member’s weaknesses.
One of the group members had trouble making a flash animation. That was their weakness, but one of the other group member’s strength was flash animation. As one of the group members falls, the others pick them up and help out. It’s a support system that helps share tasks. I, in particular, have trouble working in groups; however, I am good at Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks. What I lack in teamwork I make up by helping my other team members with their webpage.
We believe that each member of the group is not alone on this project. If he or she has difficulties completing their share of the website we support them. We try helping each other get good scores on their website pages.
One of the main difficulties we encountered was saving and defining our site. Sometimes we forgot to do it and have to start it over again. To solve this we came up with the idea to always update our individual flash drives with the saved data. If two members were working on two different pages we would trade flash drives and make sure we had the same files. Another problem we found was the links within the website. The links started to break on us so I took the updated file and restored them with my knowledge of Dreamweaver.
In my point of view; it was complicated to work with others. Since we all had different ways of working together it proven that working as a team would have problems. I think we should make sure each detail of the website is correct. However, one member is not the boss of the team. Our group worked together and we made sure that the website meets the criteria.
Team Diversity
My team is very diverse. Delilah is from Puerto Rico and my other teammate, Nicolas, is Puerto Rican and Mexican and then there is me, Suzette and I am African American. The sources that we have used were on our cancer and different things to help that type of cancers of the human body. We had to look for symptoms and signs of cancer which dealt with our organs which was the kidney, liver, and lung. We looked for different sources that would help us know more about our cancer. For my cancer I had to look for kidney cancer and how it affected that person and how you can get kidney cancer. While we were researching for our information on cancer, we found very good sources that we have used in our project. We all had different ideas on how to do the website, but we all came to an agreement. Our diversity is what makes us who we are and in my group we all come from different back-grounds. We all have many of similar problems and we are like a family in many ways, we care about each other, we help each other, and we learn from one another. Our socio-economics are the same. We all come from lower class we all can’t afford the things that we need. We don’t always have the money to take care of our self, but we try our best to spend the money that we do make on things that we need to help us live our lives. For example let’s say someone in my family has kidney cancer, we would not be able to afford it. If we did come from a middle class family we could pay for the treatments that we need to help us. In my group we live in the same district and we all have the same issues that ordinary people go through like family, friends, and life. It must be very hard for the person who has it they have to deal with it every day of their life’s and I feel very bad for those who have it sometimes it’s what that person does that can make them have cancer or its sometimes because of the background history of the family. That can make the person get cancer. I think that if a person needs treatment for their cancer they should get it because they need it and people who have to wait to get there treatment is very wrong a person should not wait to get there treatment or have the doctor say there is nothing we can do to help you. There should always be treatment available for that person when they need it. When I think about cancer the first thing that comes to mind is how it affects the body. However, I think that the availability for treatment for cancer is good. There are many treatments for cancer, for example, surgery, radiation, and drugs.
