The site will provide general knowledge of the giant Sequoia trees located in Sequoia National Forest in central California. The site will give information on the history of where Sequoia trees can be found, names and measurements of famous Sequoias including the General Sherman and General Grant, and cover the lifecycle of the Sequoias. The site will also provide maps as well as a chance to interact with the site via feedback forms, a coloring page, a wordsearch, and a quiz to test your knowledge.

This web site contains valuable information on poisonous plants and animals. A wide range of species are described and classified according to their habitat and biological origin. Special attention is given to the behavior of venomous snakes and insects with advice on how to avoid a deadly bite. The site also reviews the application of some plant and animal poisons in medicine and pharmacy thus showing that dangerous substances can sometimes be useful.

Our entry provides an overview of Alaskan Wildflowers,
plants in general, and the beauty that can be seen throughout
Alaska. In addition to showcasing Alaskan Wildflowers,
we wanted to encourage viewers to learn more about plants
and Alaska than they knew before entering our site.
In attempting to encourage learning in a fun way, we
included many games and activities that may be used in the
classroom to facilitate learning about plants and
wildflowers in their own areas. We also provide a way to
include students' efforts on our web site so that others may
learn about local wildflowers all over the U.S. and the world.
Our personal objectives were to teach our children how to
research a subject from a variety of angles, and to take the
knowledge gained and learn to present it, using multiple facets
of lay out and design, on the web. We also wanted to ensure
that each child learned about and used all of the skills
required to complete a web page from start to finish. It
was also important that our team learn to identify, appreciate,
and utilize the individual strengths of each team member.
Our ultimate goal was to make a page that would foster
learning for ALL ages.

Our "Aloha Paradise? Network" is a web site about the
endangered and extinct plants and animals of Hawaii,
the most endangered species spot on Earth! The site shows others about endangered species and what is happening to our islands' beauty. Our Web site is organized somewhat like a television network with different shows
such as the "Extinct Files," "Mynah Winery," "Rescue 5-0,"
"Hawaii's Most Wanted," "Earthline," and "Animal Squares."
Hopefully, we can encourage and move other people to
become active in trying to prevent any more species from
becoming endangered or extinct, by approaching the issue in
an entertaining yet informative way. We would like to decrease the
amount of plants and animals that are disappearing before
it's too late. Join us in our mission to save our
Hawaiian Paradise.

Students made the web site to explain that (1) roots, stems and leaves help plants live and grow;(2) flowers form seeds that can produce new plants; (3) germination, growth, and formation of new seeds are stages in the life cycle of a plant. The students describe pollination and explained how plants with flowers form seeds. Students will describe how pollen can be scattered . Our project consists of a trip to a nature center where users will learn about how plants can be both dangerous and helpful. Our topic is about the taro plant, called kalo in Hawaiian. Kalo was the main staple of the Hawaiian people. We want to show how early Hawaiians grew the plant with an irrigation system that did not damage the environment. It is also good to show how they grew the plants and used every part of it so there is no waste. The early Hawaiians were in awe of nature and treated nature with reverence. They understood how important nature is for their own lively hood. The growth of taro showed how the early Hawaiians used and protected their environment. The lesson for all of us to learn is that we should never forget about our natural environment.
We would like to share two very important ideas that came from the cultivation of kalo. First that the use of water as not being owned by any one person but should be shared and protected by all. Second, that the kalo represented the family.

We decided to design a web page on coffee since Tana's
mother works in a coffee shop, and more kids are drinking
coffee because of the caffeine effect. We spent
hours on Internet looking for coffee web sites, but everything
we found was associated with buying coffee from a business
or it was difficult to understand. Theefore, we decided
that our project would not only give information about coffee,
but would also be fun to read. We talked about how coffee
berries become coffee through diary entries. We also told
about the history of coffee and gave little known facts about
coffee. We explained the difference between the major
types of coffee that kids are drinking or that they hear
about the most. Other topics we researched included how
caffeine affects your body and your sleep. We included a
hand-drawn map that shows the major places coffee
is produced and a hand-drawn graph of the top ten coffee
producing countries.
Our educational objectives for this project were:
Learn to use PageMill (a web-authoring program)
Design informative web pages based on curriculum
taught to fourth-sixth graders in California. Coffee and
caffeine are discussed in the 4th - 6th grade
Drug Awareness Program in California.

In making this web site we wanted to help people learn about plants, bodies of water, rocks, and dinosaur fossils on our earth. Our completed web site is a place where visitors can learn about plants such as the Venus FlyTrap, Orchid, African Violet, and Sunflower. We also have included information about the different oceans. Pages about different types of rocks (metaphoric, sedimentary, and igneous) each have interactive links. There is a separate page with links about dinosaur fossils (herbivores and carnivores). We think that we have met the objectives that we planned and that many visitors will enjoy learning information and participating in the games on our site.

turned into thread and fabric. It is educationally
beneficial for those interested in where their clothes

This topic is generally covered in grade six, but our website will certainly be useful to seventh and eighth graders or to elementary age students who might be studying the topic for the first time.
