The Khmer Rouge, a communist regime, led by Pol Pot, was the cause of nearly two million deaths in Cambodia between 1975 and 1979. On April 17, 1975 the Khmer Rouge soldiers marched into Phnom Penh (the capital of Cambodia) and proudly established their new form of government. In the four years they were in control, they managed to convince all urban residents to trek the long and excruciating journey to the countryside where most met their deaths, including children. The Cambodian people were forced to leave the city in false pretense that they were leaving for something better. They couldn’t be farther form the truth. If you didn’t starve to death in these camps then you were personally killed by one of the Khmer soldiers. Most educational curricula these days require students to learn about the Holocaust or the mass killings in Rwanda, but they don’t touch on the subject of the mass genocide that occurred in Cambodia nearly thirty years ago.

From 1910-1940, Angel Island served as a point of entry for a majority of Chinese immigrants coming from the East to the West. People coming to America saw it as the gateway to success and riches, but no sooner had they set foot onto the land, reality shattered these hopes and dreams. Denied their entry, the Chinese were detained on this island for as long as two years, frozen between their two worlds. This website aims to educate visitors about the struggle endured for immigration through unveiling the history and experiences of the Chinese immigrants.

This website contains information about the Great Wall of China, one of the seven wonders of the world. It mainly includes a brief history of the Great Wall, masterpieces of poems and prose written by famous writers spreading over a wide span of time, and last but not the least, folklore associated with this magnificent fortress built over 2,000 years ago.
The brief history of the Great Wall introduces to people historical knowledge of this ancient structure of human wisdom and therefore allow them to relive, the experience of building the Great Wall.
Though the designers of the Great Wall had it to serve as a military structure, it actually achieves much more. For example, it inspires writers of all times to produce the masterpieces. It greatly enriches human culture and has long become a milestone in the development of Chinese civilization. It is no longer a fortress of defence today but it has not stopped, and it will never stop, the inspiration it planted in the hearts of men of letters. The Great Wall has therefore become a birthplace of the worlds greatest literatures.
The folklore provides people with the popular understanding of the Great Wall and are thus another source of information. Together with the poems and articles, the folklore allows users to know more of how people feel about the wall, ranging from enthusiasm to hatred, from fondness to complaints, from joys to nostalgia.
This website offers people an opportunity to know the Great Wall of China and to understand the thoughts and feelings of the people from the past and present and also to enjoy the great masterpieces. Hence, it gives an overall detailed information of both facts and feelings.

The web site teaches about Southeast Asia, particularly the countries of Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. Many children may learn that SE Asia went through many difficulties. They may also get a chance to learn about the history, culture, customs, languages, food, people, religion, buildings, manufacturing, and animals. Two of our team members are Laotian, and they had a chance to visit Laos last summer. So much of our information came from things that they have seen, heard, and experienced about Southeast Asia. Since many students never get a chance to visit Southeast Asia, we hope that they will learn a lot of things about the countries from our web site.

We made a web site project about Mount Everest. Jeff made a big web site last year and he had followed the ascent of Mr. Everest last year by Tom Whittaker. Jeff asked Johnny to be his partner and they asked Mrs. Smith to find them another partner at another school. Each year in Oregon we do projects to meed State Standards. We are using this project for that and our teacher scores it using a special scoring guide. It becomes part of our portfolio. We wanted to learn more about this famous mountain and why people climb it. We wanted to learn about the country where it is. We thought it would be neat to share with other kids by them visiting our site.We really had fun dressing up in the climbing equipment and taking our picture and pasting it so we looked like we were on Mount Everest.

Georgia is a small mountainous country situated to the south of the Caucasus Mountains on the cross-road between the East and the West, the South and the North. It is a young country that appeared on the World map less than ten years ago and at the same time one of the oldest countries with history starting in the ancient times. Many ancient people have disappeared since that. How could a little nation, constantly invaded by powerful neighbours and visitors, such as Greeks, Romans, Bysantines, Iranians, Arabs, Mongols, Turks, Russians, escape degeneration? What was the power that helped us to survive?
We'll try to tell you in brief the most important events from our history, describe you the life of our people, the soul of the nation. We hope yo will not be bored and even more - we hope you'll get pleasure to meet brave and hospital people, open hearted, hard working and gay. You can compare our habitudes and outlook on life with that of other nations', put yourself in place of our heroes. Maybe at the end of our trip you feel that the tolerance to other people's views, the skill to find compromise even with the enemy, a deep devotion to own homeland and faith, readiness to fight till death for the freedom helped us to overpass the most difficult periods of our history. Once more you will learn to love your own Motherland as well as all the other peoples living on our beautiful Earth.
