People have always relied on medicine to heal and cure their illnesses. This form of medicine is
usually modern (that is, usage of pills and injections). However, there have been many other ways of healing, most of which have a even longer history than modern medicine. Although some of these techniques have been dismissed as quackery, others do work. "Healing through the Six Senses" focuses on techniques which make use of the six senses (Sight, sound, smell, taste, touch and thought) to heal the body and mind. This is especially relevant in today's society where people seek out spiritual and natural ways to cure themselves. Students can learn about the history of the techniques, how they are carried out and answer some quizzes regarding the techniques.

Our Thinkquest team wanted to do something that all kids could relate to. Most kids (and some adults) are afraid of going to the doctor or afraid of a disease they might get.To paraphrase Dr. Martin Luther King, people are afraid of what they don't know. We hope that by giving people knowledge of medicine, people will be able to make good choices about their health. We decided to include information on Aches and Pains, History of Medicine, Home Remedies, Childhood Diseases, and the gross part of medicine that we call Gross Anatomy. We also included some interactive sites and a chat room so kids could share experiences and get immediate feedback. We also hope this will make it fun!

The "Medic! Medic" website is designed to provide information on combat medics. Although it is difficult to find "textbook" material on such a specific military position, there is a great deal of anecdotal evidence that describes the important role medics play in wartime. We were fortunate enough to find a number of medics and medical personnel that were willing to share their personal stories with us. This website also has a number of special features that can assist any student or teacher looking for primary sources on war. Most importantly, we were able to acquire actual film footage from World War II that shows the process of gathering the wounded and transporting them to the hospital ship, USS Bountiful (which happens to be the ship that one of our student's great-grandfather served on!) Although, the information on wartime medics is hard to find, we believe that our website covers the topic nicely.
