Apes: from Cave to Computer

1999
Apes: from Cave to Computer is a journey through the evolution of man in Africa. As our title implies, we take an in-depth look at the technological advances of man through the ages, as well as the ways in which modern man has grown from his predecessors. Through this section, we hope to educate people and allow them to understand how amazing and complex the inventions of today actually are. We also explore the world of Paleontology, with a section on the extraction and analysis of fossils, that ends off in a quiz for all those interested in discovering their hidden talents regarding excavation. This section of our site aims to teach people a bit more about the fascinating world of paleontology...and what an art it is! We provide a forum for debate regarding the theory of evolution, in the form of a message board. By including this section in our site, we aim to educate people about differences in opinion. We also provide a section listing many important findings in Africa. It focuses on five countries, and it's goal is to make information about discoveries easily availible, as well as to allow the world to learn a little more about the "dark continent", and its important role in the world of natural history. Finally, we have a timeline that leads to information about the species of ape-men that lived in Africa, which we hope will be informative and useful.

Creation vs. Evolution 2

1999
Creation vs. Evolution II is an educational web site designed to help middle and high school-aged students develop critical thinking skills by participating in a debate about a controversial subject. The site has sections where students can research creation or evolution, then participate in an online debate in several formats. In the course of debating the subject, the students will be drawn into studying molecular biology, comparative zoology, paleontology, geology, theology, and the scientific method. This is our second year of developing this site. In the past year, we were hard pressed to keep up with the volume of messages and poll results we received, but in the process, we learned how our visitors were using the site and what improvements they wanted. For example, we know that individuals, and sometimes entire schools, were using the site to research the subjects of creation and evolution for school reports. For them, we added many new articles and a search engine. We also know that the message board was a popular feature, so we added several new ways to debate and share ideas. Finally, we know that not everyone visiting the site agreed with everything we had to say on the subject, so we went back and edited the existing sections to make them more fair and accurate. We even added a third team member with a strong pro-evolution stance to balance the coverage.

Human Origins

1999
Our page is about the evolution of mankind. The page consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with the theory of evolution, the second one with how man might have evolved out of the first life forms, the third one with the pro and contra arguments of the evolution theory and the fourth one with the possible future of mankind. At the end of some sections there are questions to test the reader's knowledge of the text. Also a discussion forum and a chat room are provided for where the users of our page can give their views on these subjects. Our objective is to create via Internet the opportunity for people interested in the human origin to learn and think about this subject by means of the theory of evolution. There is also a short description of the main problems in the research about the subject. Our page is mainly meant for students at secondary school and gives some information for teachers.

Scientists have found that the first appearance of animals with limbs and animals with segmented bodies, as well as the first predators with jaws, claws, and teeth all appeared during this same time period Find out why the Cambrian Period is sometimes referred to as biology's Big Bang.
