Welcome to our web site, “Oroville, The Forgotten Golden City”. We're the O-Unit from the Chico California Upward Bound Projects. This year was a great and challenging year for our group. Our project focused on our dearest town, Oroville. The reason why we choose to focus on our town is because we want to educate our viewers on a town that they never knew existed. Be as it may, a lot of people wonder what has become of Oroville and why. Some don't even know that there is such a town called Oroville, and it's very sad to know that nobody knows where you're from. So we made this web site to inform everyone about our town's history and current events; also, we have added pictures and graphic to help our viewers to understand the beauty of Oroville

We looked back at our mission reports for the general information that needs to be in basic reports. We figured kids would rather search on there computers at home in there cozy p.j's instead of going to a stuffy library. Our website includes lots of important facts as well as a couple extra tid-bits.

The entry is an investigation about the Mountain View Community, where our school is located. We have researched the history of our community by interviewing historical figures in Mountain View, teachers at Mountain View Elementary, and researching museum archives for pictures of the community in its early stages of development. The web site was created for students to build a sense of community pride and to gain a sense of the community and Anchorage history. I also wanted my students to be exposed to various methods of research and resources they may not have been aware of, and for them to be empowered to tap into these resources. We utilized the Municipal Library, the Museum of History and Art, and prominent historical figures who helped to establish the Mountain View Community.

Read about each prison's history, its location, and layout. You'll learn about prison conditions and some famous escapes at this very interesting site.
