"Life on the Rocky Shore" is an enjoyable learning spot for students looking for information about tidepools. This site describes ocean life in tidepools, the animals living there and the tides affecting them. Animal photos are followed by a narrative and a table which includes diet, color, size, life cycle, predators, types and relatives of each for easy viewing. Vocabulary words are highlighted and linked to the glossary. There is a quick interactive quiz for each animal with the correct answers given upon completion. Other interactive aspects of this site are an animal identification game, crossword puzzles, word searches and a scavenger hunt. Animal drawings in the Coloring Book may be printed out for coloring or use in a report. There are also examples of the animals done in batiks, an art process explained in the activities section. Other activities include making a tidepool viewer and making a paper mache tidepool. Links to tide tables, updated monthly, are available for visitors wanting to go tidepooling. A survey asks visitors to collaborate by sending data about their tidepooling experiences.

There are more horseshoe crabs in the Delaware Bay than any other place in the world, and people need to learn about horseshoe crabs and how valuable they are. Our project is an attempt to educate people about the horseshoe crab and its importance - biologically, medically, and economically. Some people have never heard of horseshoe crabs. Other people see horseshoe crabs on the beach and don't even know what they are. Many just do not realize they may owe their lives to these creatures and their blue blood. The horseshoe crab is one of the oldest species on earth and has survived all kinds of situations. Yet, recently there has been much controversy over whether to put restrictions on the harvesting of horseshoe crabs. Many people believe their numbers are declining, primarily because people are overharvesting them to use for eel and conch bait. So, we hope that as people learn more about horseshoe crabs, they will make better decisions about their future.
