Our project examines the status of women in China today, particularly in the Birthplace, at Home, in the Workplace, In the Media and in the Marketplace. We hope to compare this to the status of Chinese women in the past, taking into consideration the feudal family system and traditional Asian values and how far the "feminist" movement in China has progressed since the founding of new China in 1949. The write-up on Bound Feet serves as a starting point, a symbol for the subjugation of women in China and we hope to branch out as far as possible from there.

Our website contains an overview of the arts of China. In a simple and easy-to-understand manner it explains, and gives examples of Chinas obscure arts. We believe that this website is important for these two reasons. First, we believe that there is a whole world of arts that needs to be looked at. Western culture is known throughout the whole world because of books, movies, and television Our website would provide an alternative to our familiar culture. Second, this website can be used by adults, but it is written in an understandable and concise way, so kids can use it. It could be utilized to broaden their vision of art, not just in the painting sense, but also as in , music, and crafts (such as kites.) Many of us are ignorant of this subject, so we made it clear and easy to grasp. This site could get someone started in studying the arts of China, and they may choose to pursue it even further. This webpage is a good place to begin a search for Chinese arts. If it is put on the web it would broaden peoples horizons. They would have a better view of the Chinese culture, which is incredibly beautiful.
