On a daily basis electric energy is used – even as you are viewing this website now. However, not many of us are aware of the severe consequences of indiscriminate electricity use and exploitation. Hence, it is necessary to educate and increase awareness of the dire consequences arising from the indiscriminate use of electricity such as direct and indirect environmental issues. In view of this, our website's principal objective is to develop or promote a world culture on proper electricity use from kids to adults, by elucidating with multimedia examples and clear explanations, the environmental consequences of its abuse. Furthermore, realistic solutions that can be practiced by any person will also be presented… all of these being made, thanks to Internet and ThinkQuest.

"If I have one dollar and you have one dollar, and you give me one dollar and I give you one dollar, we will both have one dollar. "However, if I have one idea and you have one idea, and you tell me yours and I tell you mine, we will both have two ideas." That is the principle behind "Saving Our Environment". Saving Our Environment tells you what everyone can do to save our natural environment. But we do not just tell you. The best way to benefit from this site is to interact with it. This is because, by doing that, one shares his/her knowledge and contributes to the pool of information. As more and more users use this site, more ideas would be generated and and this pool would definitely overflow!

1、We carried out this investigation to better know the ban on plastic bags, improve people’s cousciousness about environmental protection and finally make efforts to our environmental protection.
2、Through this investigation,we improved our practical skills and strengthened our consciousness to save resources and protect environment.
3、It is the whole world’s consensus to restrict the use of plastic bags to reduce white pollution and environmental pressure. Through this activity, the meaningful propaganda helps citizens to realize that we should protect our environment and improve our living environment by reducing the use of plastic bags, and finally make such activities a new, healthy way of living. We hope that everyone of our society should actively protect our environment.
A Report on the Use of Plastic Bags in Our Daily Life
Investigation Plan:
1. Our main method is field survey and questionnaire survey. Our supporting method is collecting materials through the internet.
2. At the beginning stage, we collect materials on plastic bags and Ban on Plastic Bags. In the medium-term, we collect data by field survey and questionnaire survey.
3. In the end, we summarize the materials and data, and write an investigation report.
Investigation Process:
The whole investigation was accomplished on April 11,2009.
Team members got together at eight o’clock in the designated place. The team members who passed by country markets observed the use of plastic bags when buying vegetables. After get-together, team members summarized their observations and found that most seller still offered thin, colored and low-quality plastic bags. However, some buyers used plastic bags from super markets, baskets or cloth bag. Buyers who use baskets are mostly elders.
After get-together, team members walked to Huaxing Super Market. We firstly negotiated with mangers about the negotiation process, and then interviewed with several cashiers. We got to know that, before ban on platic bags, one checkout generally sold 300 to 400 plastic bags per day. But after the ban, the number reduced sharply, to 120 to 200. After the interview, we separately observed around the checkout for 30 minutes and made a statistics of the use of plastic bags during the period. We also took pictures.
Survey the situation:
During lunch time, we handed out some questionnaires to some customers. After lunch, team members got together walked to waterfront park. We handed out the rest questionnaires to citizens and made data analysis.
Result of Investigation:
1. As far as we knew, citizens clearly knew the harmful effects of plastic bags. The starting point of ban on plastic bags is fine, and most citizens can understand it. However, the execution is not satisfactory. In super markets, the use of plastic bags is reducing, but there are still some customers who don’t care for the money and buy plastic bags. More and more customers don’t use plastic bags when they buy small amount and low volume commodities. Situation is worser in country markets. People seldom do not use plastic bags. Sellers voluntarily offer plastic bags and buyers do not refuse to use them. Thus, Ban on plastic bags is harldy executed here.
2. As a matter of fact, charge on plastic bags can not radically deal with white pollution, but is an effective method to improve environmental protection consciousness. Our country should continue to strengthen the propaganda of ban on plastic bags and make the ban on plastic bags a habit.
3. It is an urgent responsibility to find a substitute, which both can facilitate people’s daily life and is environmental protection, for plastic bags.

ABSTRACT
It all begins with once upon a time when the world is rich with natural resources-protected and untouched. As time flew by, these resources depleted into a critical stage. These natural resources are very beneficial and important to our life. Due to our greediness, we tend to exploit these resources and before we know it, they are decreasing right before our eyes. Therefore, we the Earth Rangers are on a mission to save the Earth.
We are currently doing a research on what the government and non government are doing to help conserve and preserve the resources. From the research, we found out that they have taken many steps to reduce the usage of natural resources. For instance, they had organized campaigns to create awareness among society such as the Recycling Campaign. Legislation of strict law had also been passed. In order to instill consciousness among young generation, they are being educated on the importance of the natural resources in Science and Geography. What captures our interest the most is the usage of used tyres as heat absorbers in construction of buildings. However, even with all these measures Malaysian specifically our local community still take this serious condition lightly. Therefore, “The Earth Rangers” are on a mission to enlighten them on the importance of conserving and preserving the Earth resources. We are raising awareness by giving talks, doing surveys and interviews and planting trees with children.
Our conclusion is the few steps of conserving and preserving as mentioned above will enable us to take better care of the world and its resources. It is our hope with this project the local community will be more cognizant on how to be responsible end users.

Narrative Question: How do we take better care of our world and its resources?
To address this issue, our team decides to come up with a study on the various problems the earth is currently facing, from climate change to pollution, and lack of sustainable resources for the future. We provide detailed ‘cause, effect and measures’ studies to give an all rounded view of the issues.
However, we included another section that answers the question with a new and creative approach. Knowing that many countries these days are starting eco-friendly buildings, organizing green events and started green policies, we decide to answer the question by showing the current and future plans of the actions of these countries, doing comparisons and coming up with the best ways to solving a problem.
We added a section to guide an individual who also wants to play his part in fighting climate change. Every small action counts in helping the world fight climate change. The more we have the fear that it is irreversible, the more we would not want to care about it, and therefore bringing out the worst possible circumstances. Raising awareness would encourage more people to put in effort in helping planet earth.
An interactive section would be included too, comprising video interviews and quizzes to test one’s knowledge on our topic.
Resources required would be rather diverse. In order to have actual insights on what a country does, we have to live in the country itself. And that is what we successfully achieved, by having members working and getting information from Beijing, Tianjin, Indonesia and Singapore. Survys, interviews and case studies could all be conducted at the various locations. Pictures were also easily obtained as we could directly use the pictures taken by ourselves.
This project targets anyone who is willing to find out more about fighting climate change and how these actual steps are taken in the real world. People organizing events for their school / community could gain inspiration from our sources, and probably add a green twist to their event organization. Due to the relevance of climate change, adding a green twist to anything would certainly gain approval and probably more support from the general public.
Finally, we aim to raise awareness of the climate change issue, and hopefully after going through our site, readers would actually understand the importance and severity of the situation and therefore want to play their part as well.
Our site also encompasses other facets of environmental conservation such as reaching a fine balance between technological advancement and consideration for the environment. We will also be including in our website, an evaluation of the policies various countries have adopted, as well as the recent Beijing Olympics, and perhaps a discussion with regards to the upcoming London Olympics in the year 2012.
Our primary objective would be to augment the overall awareness level of the global audience to perhaps accentuate the crucial need for environmental conservation.

The sea is a particular subject of interest before the international scientists society, since its basin is composed of two layers: an oxygen-containing one, and a poisonous, dihydrogen sulfur-containing one. By writing about Black Sea, the team aims to show how the ecological problem with seawater pollution can influence the quality of the ecosystems that it supports. It is a fact that Black Sea is only one of the bodies of water on Earth where this problem is starting to emerge. The purpose of this page is to show the existing problems, with the hope that people all over the world will be better aware of this type of ecological dangers. The Gulf of Aqaba-Eilat lies at the northern end of the Red Sea and along the borders of four countries: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Israel.
The uniqueness of the gulf lies in the striking contrast of its clear water and the abundant and varied aquatic life it supports. The site includes textual information and pictures about the uniqueness of the gulf and about human activities taking place along the North Shore. The environmental impact of all the key sites found along the coast in Israel and in Jordan is presented. Most of the Information was taken from work made by senior students from the Earth Sience class in Ma'ale Shaharut School. A virtual map provides a link to each site. Incorporated in the site there is also a game – Simgulf – in which a visitor to the site is invited to learn independently about the land use and the environmental impact of a range of activities in the coastal region. Joint development of the site is contributing greatly to cementing relations between the partners from Jordan and Israel. In today’s “burning” Middle-East cooperation is of major importance, especially in view of the fact that such cooperation will contribute to the preservation of plants and wildlife in the gulf.
Recently published reports on the ecology of the Gulf of Aqaba-Eilat indicate the situation of the coral is worsening. This makes the site even more important. The Gulf News link provides access to these reports.

A World of Diversity is an educational web site about the ecology and biodiversity the world has to offer. This web site focuses on giving a cumulative overview of Ecology, and the processes which drive ecosystems. The overview of ecology is reinforced by an in-depth look at four distinct ecosystems, the Willapa Bay estuary, the tide pools of the Pacific Coast, Mount St. Helens and the rainforests of Ecuador. By learning about these diverse and unique ecosystems users will be able to see how the science of ecology is acted out each day around them. After gaining an understanding of ecology users are encouraged to learn more about the ecosystems near their own hometown. This can be accomplished through independent research or by following one of our predesigned labs.
The information which users collect can be submitted to A World of Diversity and will be added to the website. Additionally A World of Diversity can be used for students who wish to meet someone from across the world and discuss topics such as global warming or work on a similar ecological study to find the distinct differences in two separate ecosystems. Users are able to have discussions through the community chat, or messages left on our community forum. A World of Diversity offers many avenues to learn about the richness of life the world has to offer.

Our web site, is fun and educational, not just for Liberty Bay but for kids and their parents all around the world. Many people don't understand how the ecosystem works so Project Environment: Liberty Bay will show them how we can make a difference and "put the parts together" to protect our waters. It will teach them how whole watersheds must be 'balanced' and are really interdependent parts of the whole ecosystem and how we are part of that picture. There are valuable resources and kids' activities throughout the individual pages and links back to the subjects of special interest. If someone wants to learn more about starfish for instance, we take them to a really neat site with everything you ever wanted to know about starfish. If someone is doing a report and needs more information about saltwater, gardening, fish and wildlife, salmon, pollution prevention, or marine life we link them to 'hot' places to learn more. Many of the links are to kids' pages with really great games which educate even younger children and are fun at any age. The 'salmon life cycle game' is one we made up which can be interactive online with questions that reward the player with entertaining animated .gifs while teaching them about salmon. The game board is made up of four pieces which must be printed out and the game pieces are colorful illustrated types of salmon which they can move around the game board. When using Windows Internet Explorer, each link plays an instrument or birdsong when the mouse hovers over it and another when it is selected. An orchestral musical score plays in the background and both are part of the "orchestrate" changes theme of our subject.

The Yotvata Salt Flat, in the Arava desert, is located 30 km north of the Gulf of Eilat/Aqaba within the geologic province of the Syrian-African Rift. It is a level, salty, plant-free plain. Surrounding this sterile plain are microenvironments that depend on the nature of the soil and the rocks. A delicate balance exists between the soil, rocks, water, flora and fauna in this area. We are trying to map and analyze these microenvironments surrounding the salt flat and relate the naturl landscape to human activity in the region. The web site contains other information including research papers by academics, aerial photographs, maps, and landscape photographs. Also included is a virtual field trip of the region. People interested in desert environments from around the world will find this site useful and informative.

We started on this entry basically with the aim to tell people what is becoming of this world. We want to achieve awareness in everyone around the world and made it known to everyone that we ourselves are losing our natural habitat as we cause other living things to lose theirs. As we lose our own natural habitat, it is only fair that we understand that it is because of man's greed that it is happening. We want to change this mindset! We want people to know that man's greed will kill all of us! As young people are the ones who surf the web, we hope that they come across this page and we can educate them. Our project has a case study of Amazon deforestation and it also touches on endangering of animals as well as the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Korean peninsula! There is a nature that only exists there. We only heard about it, but never knew the place. It's the DMZ(DeMilitarized Zone). When we heard about this place through the mass media we got a lot of interest and curiosity about this place. DMZ is the place where the nature is well preserved and has not been touched by human being. While land mines and dangerous objects coexists. DMZ is the area along the military demarcation line with 4km width, between the North and South Korea's armistice line. 2km wide on both North and South sides. After the Korean war for 50 years the DMZ had no contact with the people. So nature has been preserved better than any other place in the world. In this place, you can see many unknown animals and plants that lives only in korea. Rare living things that is world-widely protected live here also.

While the Industrial Revolution transformed America into an economic powerhouse, it also marked the beginning of what would become the biggest contributor to air pollution and, consequently, the destruction of thousands of lakes and other natural habitats. On the eve of the new millennium, the importance of restoring our environment and fixing, or at least, lessening, these problems has become a national and international priority. Recently, such a priority has propelled environmental restoration and protection to the forefront of congressional agendas. Our comprehensive web site entitled, "Threatening Clouds: Air Pollution on the Eve of the New Millenium," attempts to address such pressing environmental issues, specifically CFCs, smog, acid rain, ozone depletion, and global warming, as well as the legislative action that has been enacted to help stop them. Furthermore, the site hopes to arm viewers with a basic understanding of these problems that will allow them to take preventative and remedial measures in their own communities.
A text version, HTML version, and Flash version are available to accomodate all visitors, with special animations that further illustrate the topics featured in the Flash version.

Although we classified our site as "science" and there is much science information on it, we also tell about where rainforests are located and how you can help save them - so our site has a social science side too. What we wanted to do was get KIDS to find out the BASICS of rainforests. Many of the sources we looked at were really hard to understand and we wanted any elementary student to be able to understand our information. Rainforests are so beautiful that we wanted our site to have pretty graphics, so we worked hard on that part too. We hope people learn: * what is a rainforest * what are the types * where they are found * why it's important to save them and what a kid can do to help save them
