Our project name is actually an equation
(∞ People x P.H.S. ÷ Hope + Green) = - Hunger
It stands for: Infinite People multiplied by Plants, Harvest & Share, divided by Hope plus Green, equals Less Hunger.
With that idea in mind students came with the next essential question:
How can we help end world hunger by learning to harvest our own backyards?
Standards: Science, Technology and Society
Outcomes: By working together students will learn the importance of team work and cooperative learning to solve problems. Motivated to end world hunger students will be able to demonstrate that by working the soil and planting in our own backyards we can successfully harvest crops that we can use to feed ourselves and others by sharing their crops. In this way they can be role models to others in their community.
During the process students will learn the skills needed to successfully prepare compost and transform an unused open space into a successful harvest area.
