Whoops, There Goes the Neighborhood

1999
We want to teach people about natural disasters because they are very dangerous and destructive. They are also now very common all over the world. We would like to take the opportunity to teach children and grown ups about them, and also give them some safety tips. We want to let people know what and how to solve the problem and not to freak out. Our web site will be about hurricanes, twisters, earthquakes, lightning, fire, thunder, fire storms, tsunamis and floods. We will have some links to other sites that can be helpful. We have some charts that show some of the worst disasters there have been. We would like for other people to put their comments and to let us know if they have ever been in a disaster and how they handled it. This way other people can read the comments and maybe learn something they can do to help or to be prepared if they are in a disaster. Us kids would like you to visit our web site when it is up and running. We will notify you by e-mail or the mail. Look out for ways you can stay safe and have peace of mind.

Typhoon Aerospace

1998
Our web site, entitled Typhoon Aerospace, is a very informative and entertaining site dedicated to typhoons, which are the Pacific Ocean's equivalent to hurricanes. It includes a wealth of information, from articles to photographs to research pages. On this site you can learn about our very own destructive typhoon, Typhoon Paka, which hit Guam on December 16, 1997. This typhoon damaged many homes and businesses, leaving thousands homeless and jobless. This site also includes past experiences of some very damaging storms, including Typhoon Pamela and Typhoon Karen, which hit Guam in the 1960s and 1970s. There are some pages in our entry on how typhoons are formed and statistics on past typhoons. You can also learn about the members of Thinkquest Jr. Team #3741, which are Jessica Marati, Kimberly Perez, Christopher Odoca, and Brandon Sanchez, led by our coach, Mrs. Cathy Cruz. There are school portraits of us, and some words about our interests. You can also learn about Guam from our About Guam website, which includes some basic information on our island and a Guam legend. You can learn about our very special school, St. Anthony School, located in the Guam village of Tamuning. Upon entering our site, you will travel through our very own Typhoon Aerospace, which consists of several satellite images from Typhoon Paka, courtesy of Kuentos Communications. We have learned much information in designing this page, and we hope that our visitors will learn also.
