Modern Slavery
2004
Even though Slavery is illegal in every country; it still exists in at least 89 countries including the USA. Slavery has been growing rapidly due to the benefits of slave ownership. In the year 2003, the U.S. Government estimated that between 800,000 - 900,000 people are trafficked each year. Money is the main factor for the rise in modern Slavery. Slaves today are sold from $40 - $1000, which is extremely affordable compared to the past when one could pay $38,000 per slave.
